Focal Point

id 2.5" LED Luminaire Product Launch

Client: Focal Point
Agency: Symmetri Marketing
Discipline: Design/Art Direction/Illustration

The lighting design community and end users are frustrated that their go-to small aperture halogen is quickly becoming unusable due to energy code constraints. The Focal Point id 2.5” LED luminaire offering highlights; color, beam quality and options, adjustability, dimming and overall appearance.

Though it is difficult to notice in this photo, the front cover includes a spot varnish to showcase an oversized 2.5 that shines in the light. We included beautiful line drawings of the lights throughout the brochure to emphasize the details their engineers put into designing these lights. There are also spot varnishes on the photos within the brochure that reference a blueprint because Focal Point invests in design innovation.

Everything from the fins that are hidden within the ceiling - to the bulbs that are exposed are very intricately designed. Why wouldn't you include photos of the fixture in its entirety? In my opinion, anything that appreciates good design should be celebrated.

The client was behind schedule and we did not yet have photography. They did not want to change their launch date because they were concerned that their competitor would release their light first. As the sole designer on this product launch, I obtained a fixture from the client and shot the product in my office. This photograph shows that the bulb can be replaced easily and the beam repositioned.

More photos of the bulb, just proving that my photography undergrad degree was not a waste of time.

I drew illustrations of the floor and spot light beam spreads and simple line drawings of the fixtures.
